Humboldt County Regional Transportation Plan

Humboldt Public Transportation

Planwest Partners completed the 2000, 2002, 2006 and 2008 Humboldt County Regional Transportation Plans (RTP).  The RTP is updated to comply with California Transportation Commission (CTC) Guidelines.  Key element update include performance measures; needs assessment; guiding goals, policies, and objectives; short and long term proposed projects; potential funding streams; and past accomplishments for five modes of transportation (i.e., highways and roads, public transit and paratransit, bicycle and pedestrian system, aviation system, and goods movement.

As part of the RTP update, Planwest coordinated transportation planning activities with Humboldt County; cities of Arcata, Blue Lake, Eureka, Ferndale, Fortuna, Rio Dell and Trinidad; the Northern California Tribal Transportation Commission that represents seven Humboldt County Native American Tribes and Rancherias; the railroad, harbor, aviation, and transit agencies.  Planwest conducted a series of public workshops to solicit community input for the plan and to present the draft plan.
For the 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2008 Regional Transportation Plans, Planwest also prepared an addendum to the Program Environmental Impact Report which analyzed potential impacts and developed appropriate mitigation measures to reduce those impacts.
