Recreation Planning

Planwest emphasizes the identification of a community’s recreational resources and needs.  A detailed analysis of a community’s existing facilities, as well as any potential sites, can also reveal untapped opportunities and assets -- which could be used for improved, or increased recreational access.

We define areas that qualify for both active and passive recreation, determine which types of public investment would be most effective, and then designate uses that would generate both public, and private, revenues.  We work to establish a community's distinct advantages by providing:

  • An objective assessment of park, recreation and open space goals
  • An inventory of all assets, relevant to recreational planning
  • A short list of features that would be most attractive to recreational users
  • A customized strategy to fund and develop recreational facilities
  • An allocation of the resources that will meet growing demands
  • A community-specific recreation niche
